Unveiled during an Instagram Live, hosted by the contest’s judges Paula Federico and Lauren Haines on Thursday afternoon in Los Angeles, each brand received a monetary prize in the form of new apparel. However, it was not just about the $1,500 each company had won but rather how they used the funds to empower themselves. In fact, one winner is using her winning budget to launch his own eponymous label, while another chose to invest in building out his design studio so he could create a collection for women’s labels. The fourth winner, however, chose to use the money for her personal work.

The finalist who took home the coveted cash prize was Choreo by Max Azul, which gave the online retailer an extra 1,500 bucks to develop an eCommerce website that will be launched before the end of the year. They have pledged to continue working as part of the collaboration and create other exciting products that will eventually be available for purchase at your local Zara store. “Choreo x @maxazul.com/Choreo” the hashtags “#Choreo x @maxazul.com” and #Choreo x @maxazul_official

Newly-launched online platform Zazzle announced last month that it had secured six million followers across social media platforms and has been steadily climbing up the ranks of its competitors in the influencer sector. The platform recently also raised $6.5 million from Accel (formerly known as Lightspeed Venture) bringing the total amount raised by the platform to more than US$10 million. It said the funding will go towards increasing its marketing functions and investing in product development.

Meanwhile, Fenty Beauty set new record sales for Marni Williams, whose cosmetics are selling out almost immediately on the retailer's shelves. While the company expects double-digit growth in 2021 after having released two collections in late 2020, the founder of Sephora cosmetics maker Brows says the rising trend of beauty is being driven by the desire for diversity. He believes that in a world where we see people of all skin colors, shapes, and sizes, the demand for high-quality products will increase.

The latest celebrity endorsements for the makeup giant include Oprah Winfrey, Kim Kardashian West, Beyoncé, Rihanna, and Taylor Swift. When asked why the business model works so well for them, Williams noted that there is no advertising, as the strategy allows them to spend less money promoting products, yet still maintain the level of customer service that they were hoping to offer to customers. Also, Williams says she didn’t limit herself to only three lines of products, choosing instead to focus on what sells in large quantities. She points out that you must know exactly what you want when it comes to products. On her website, Williams lists 11 different shades of liquid lipstick she offers to suit different occasions.

Also on Monday, Ecosia – the maker of the popular organic cotton clothing brand – made history by hitting over 17 million active users after launching their app in Germany. This means that since starting in 2013, approximately 8 million people have signed up to join the network.
